“The second thing is that I’m totally addicted to helping people grow and watching the power that breakthroughs have with people, when you can see somebody doing something that they used to be afraid or used to believe they couldn’t do. I find that really at the core of what it means to be a successful person.”
(Seth Godin, on Boingboing.net, May 16 2011)
Those of you who have been reading this blog over the last couple of years already know this. Seth has played a key role in some of my personal breakthroughs.
- The name of this blog and company as well as my personal motto originated from a conversation on Triiibes.com.
- Meeting Seth in New York was a breakthrough on several levels (planning a trip to NY while we were in the middle of renovating our house, discovering that if you really want something there are lots of people who can help you achieving your goal, …)
- Reading Seth’s blog back in 2004 was a relief. There was another way of doing marketing and it was about much more than just selling stuff or making money. It was about committing to allowing people to become more successful and better at what they would like to do. And as Seth illustrated with many cases and stories, it was a successful way. Since then I’ve met several new inspiring people on that road (i.e. Mark Earls, Dan Ariely, The Nudge-Guys, Nassim Taleb, John Kay, Anton and Liselotte and the other colleagues from Ilfaro, Luc Isebaert and his colleagues from the Korzybski Institute, the people from Solworld.org, the guys from Choco and Change Designers, and of course my clients and friends who have inspired me with their stories in many more ways than I can understand).
And last but not least, Seth inspired my to pursue my dream to become a coach, “to help people grow and watch the power that breakthroughs have with people, when you can see somebody doing something that they used to be afraid or used to believe they couldn’t do.”
Allowing people to discover their personal greatness while becoming superbly human.
Something which to me, is also “at the core of what it means to be a successful person.”
