copy right versus copy better

Adam SavageAmerican special effects expert Adam Savage (personal site) is one of the guys behind Mythbusters (official site), a highly popular science show on Discovery. In the show they use science to test the validity of rumours, urban legends and popular stories.

Mythbusters ‘inspired’ a lot of other networks to start making similar shows. Yet Savage does not feel bad about this.

Watch the video and go over to 2:00.

“I’d be happy to watch us lose to another show that did it better. I know that we don’t do it as well as we could every single time although we try, and I know that a lot of the attempts out there are crappy as hell. But the fact that other people are trying to replicate our success by making science shows is absolutely not a bad thing.”

What do you think about this?

Thank you Becky Blanton for pointing out this vid. to me.

    Hi alex,

Guess you’re right about the earlier stage stealing.

I’ll watch the documentary this evening and get back to you.

    Great having you here.

I’m guessing he wouldn’t be as generous and full of love for the competition if they’d have taken his idea in its earlier stage..

But it’s a brilliant ethic, definitely.

Have you seen the documentary Good Copy, Bad Copy?

It’s online for free, I’ve posted it over here:
