You are here because you are important. You are important because you are here.
That’s right. The fact that you are here matters.
And I don’t mean on this website.
When looking at the images of Gaza I can’t help wondering why people’s lives can matter so little to other people?
Apparently some people think their life and the lives of their people are worth more than somebody else’s.
Why?
Can you give me one good reason? Because I can’t come up with one.
What would happen if both the Israeli and the Palestinians would recognize that their adversaries are important simply because they are also on this planet?
What would happen if we would just try to cherish the life of our adversaries the way we cherish our own?
What would happen if we could just try to say to each other: “you are here because you are important, you are important because you are here”?
I think you know the answer.

Well my friend it reminds me of one of the then laws that came form that same religion. ‘bemin je naaste als jezelf’. The key is in the last bit …as yourself. A lot of people are still learning to love them self (in spiritual kind of way). So if you’re dealing on daily bases with everything but love, it will be a hard job to be nice to your neighbour.
